Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This position requires an employee to be onsite 3 times per week.  Other than the 3 times per week on site, the employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

About GM Defense

GM Defense (GMD) continues a 100-year legacy of designing, validating, and manufacturing vehicles and equipment in support of defense and other government customers.  Within GM Defense, the recently created Autonomous Driving and Robotics group is charged with adapting, integrating, and enhancing GM’s automated driving capabilities to the needs of GM Defense customers.

The Role: 

The Sustainment Resiliency Lead is responsible to track all material supply related risks that impact any GM Defense program with regards to the ongoing supply of materials to meet the material supply requirements for sustainment and aftersales support. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Integrated Product Support. This position will be engaged with each Program Team to meet contractual requirements regarding supplier resiliency, obsolescence and risk mitigation planning related to those events. This position will also work with the Advance Engineering Teams to verify that component selection in any advance Bill of Materials is not selecting a previously identified component that is recorded with our US Government customer within their database.

What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):

Complete all requirements identified in GMD’s US Army ISV Prime contract, specifically:

CDRL C041 & C042 related to Diminishing Manufacturing Sources & Material Shortages

Maintain and update when required the DMSMS Management Plan (DMP)

Work with GM LLC/CCA on commercially common parts and their availability

Review initial Bill of Materials as prepared by Advance Engineering to identify potential obsolescence issues

Provide feedback to GM Defense Purchasing and Global Supply Chain to find alternate sources for components that are currently used in GM Defense programs

Work with Sustainment Order Fulfillment to escalate issues related to lack of parts to meet sustainment requirements

Work with GM LLC Program Teams on future program sunset dates for key GM systems (Engines/Transmissions/Others)

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Minimum of 3 years experience supporting Department of Defense wheeled vehicle programs

Experience managing supply chain within the automotive sector

Strong analytical and organizational skills are needed to handle multiple task/projects and to work independently

Effective written and oral communication skills are also required to work well with all levels of staff and managers

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Works well in a matrixed organization

Valid US Passport or ability to obtain a US passport

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience leading and training others on key provisioning skills
