Job Summary:
With a direct reporting relationship to the CFO and a matrix relationship to the COO, the Senior Executive in Supply Chain will hold the strategic leadership role overseeing the entire supply chain management function within the healthcare system. This role involves developing and executing strategies across procurement, sourcing, logistics, inventory, and non-salary expense management to optimize operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve both clinical and non-clinical outcomes. The executive is responsible for strategic planning, leadership of cross-functional teams, cost containment, vendor relations, and ensuring high standards in service delivery across all system-wide operations. Furthermore, the position entails overseeing contract negotiations, supply chain technology adoption, and driving innovation in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. The role is focused on improving patient care and safety, reducing variation, and leveraging operational and financial performance across the system.

Strategic Leadership:
Supply Chain Strategy Alignment: Establish and lead comprehensive supply chain strategies that align with organizational goals and mission, fostering collaboration across clinical and non-clinical departments.Driving Visionary Growth: Develop innovative, cost-effective, and growth-oriented programs aimed at positioning the organization as a high-quality, low-cost healthcare provider.Collaborative Leadership: Engage with executive leadership, clinical staff, and medical groups to ensure supply chain strategies align with clinical needs, enhance patient safety, and drive operational efficiency.Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (medical, clinical, and operational teams) as well as external partners like suppliers and GPOs.Operational Management:
Supply Chain Integration: Oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.Vendor and Supplier Relations: Direct contract negotiations and relationship management with suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.Technology & Process Improvement: Spearhead the adoption of technology (e.g., electronic tracking, barcoding) and best practices to reduce costs, improve patient safety, and enhance operational efficiency.Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards, driving improvements in both clinical and non-clinical supply chain areas.
Financial and Non-Salary Expense Management:
Cost Control: Lead efforts in cost containment, focusing on sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and cost-effective inventory management.Budgeting & Financial Reporting: Develop and manage the system-wide supply chain budget. Provide executive leadership with financial analyses and performance reports related to supply chain management and non-salary expenses.Expense Management Projects: Lead projects related to non-salary expenses across the organization, aiming for cost savings and operational efficiencies.People Leadership:
Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire the supply chain team, ensuring they have the necessary tools and training for effective performance and career growth.Performance & Motivation: Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and job satisfaction. Address performance issues promptly while managing staffing needs effectively.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including medical staff and other departments, to ensure alignment of goals and achievement of desired outcomes.Clinical & Operational Integration:
Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with clinical staff and physicians to ensure supply chain strategies enhance clinical outcomes, improve patient safety, and reduce cost variation.Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize analytics to drive decision-making, measure supply chain effectiveness, and implement improvements in product standardization, procurement practices, and overall supply chain management.Core Responsibilities for Contract Management & Supply Chain Systems:
Contract Development & Administration: Oversee the creation and execution of contracts for supplies, services, and equipment, ensuring that they align with system-wide goals and are cost-effective.Supplier Diversity: Ensure the development of supplier diversity programs and relationships, aligning them with organizational goals.Product/Service Sourcing: Lead and guide the creation of sourcing strategies for all supply chain categories, ensuring that products and services meet specifications and requirements.Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (in Business, Hospital Administration, or related fields).Experience:At least 10 years of leadership experience in supply chain management, with a strong focus on healthcare.Demonstrated experience in cost reduction, vendor negotiations, and strategic supply chain improvements.Proven ability in leading cross-functional teams, managing large-scale budgets, and driving financial performance.Skills and Competencies:
