Independent Model Validation is a specialist quantitative role within the Model Risk Management team responsible for carrying out independent validations of HSBC’s model landscape, in order to identify and communicate model limitations and issues.
As our SVP Independent Model Review you will:
Independently reviewing and (re)validating FO pricing and valuation models and methodologies with a focus on GFX and novel AI applications (e.g. GenAi) for Global Markets businessLead development of internal validation platform including FO pricing models for benchmarking and automation tools to optimize model risk management practicesSupervise and coach junior offshore validatorsAct as a model risk manager for US markets businesses, including exercising model risk controls during the course of normal business process, scheduling model reviews, addressing IMR validation findings and representing MRM in various model risk and governance foraSupport regulatory exams and internal and external auditsFor this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $168,300.00 and $252,400.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

In-depth knowledge on GFX modellingFamiliar with SR11-7 and/or SS1/23 and industry best practice of model risk managementHands-on experience in one or more primary trading systems such as Calypso, Summit, Murex, Sophis, and XFOSAdvanced level coding skills in Python for pricing model development and/or data science applicationsMaster’s or PhD degree (preferred) in a quantitative discipline like Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer ScienceManage multiple senior stakeholder relationships at global level, as well as within different lines of business, functions and regionsCommunicate complex technical modelling issues to, and deliver credible feedback to, senior stakeholders (Chief Risk Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Global Heads of Functions, etc.)In compliance with applicable laws, HSBC is committed to employing only those who are authorized to work in the U.S. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as HSBC will not engage in immigration sponsorship for this position
