Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students through effective teaching of swimming lessons while providing a quality experience for students and parents.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Have prepared a lesson plan with appropriate skills for the abilities and ages of the class or individual.
Keep accurate records of attendance and skills covered on a daily basis.
Review all pool rules with parents and student.
Enforce all pool rules and know the location of the first aid kit, nearest phone.
Ensure emergency procedures are followed and notify supervisor of any incidents and accidents.
Fill out occurrence report if anything out of the ordinary occurs.
Attentive to pool deck and pool when students are present.
Ensure that all children leave with their guardians.
Arrive with ample time to report to a position at the scheduled time.
Be responsible and fulfill your commitments to scheduled lesson times.
Notify your student in a timely manner if you are unable to meet your commitment.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Ensure all parents /guardians have filled out the contract and signed consent.
Follow swim lesson policy AQ-011 for clocking in, receipts and time card procedures.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
BLS must be obtained within orientation period kept current while in this position. Certifications that are acceptable are American Red Cross Swim Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Certified; Safety Training for Swim Coaches through USA Swimming or Red Cross or equivalent, reputable certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year's experience teaching swim lessons or coaching preferred.
