Start rate of pay for the position is $25.95 per hour plus shift differential.Primary Job Responsibilities:Below is a general description of the essential functions of this job. This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions.Operates locomotive to transport material and spot rail cars utilizing instructions from a switch list.Regularly operates locomotive in a congested area and must use considerable caution to prevent damage to rail cars or accidents to employees.Operates switches and directs flow of cars in rail yard.Maintains area in a neat and orderly manner and reports work hazards.Knowledge and Skills RequiredHave a high school diploma or GEDMust have a valid driver's licenseMust be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently.Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime.Willingness to wear required PPE at all times and always work safely.Ability to understand and follow UTLX operating procedures and policies based on safety and field training.Working ConditionsExposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat.Work outdoors and will be exposed to the elements.Physical effort in lifting and carrying materials and attaching rigging devices. Ability to lift 50 pounds.Moderate physical exertion is required. Positions relatively heavy objects by using a forklift or other mechanical means.Manual dexterity in operating control levers and buttons.Exposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat.Some climbing into and out of vehicles, crane cabs, etc.Some outside work possible minor cuts and bruises.
