Minimum Requirements:
10+ years Sybase Database Engineer experience.
The database engineer will have senior-level experience in the following areas; Sybase IQ, Sybase ASE replication
Experience in financial services a bonus/not required.
Excellent comm skills expected.
Description:
The Database Engineer is responsible for the design, and implementation and administration to horizontally scale the environment. The roles include the development and design of database strategies, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. They also plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard the database.
Work directly with the Development and Production Support teams
Configure and support Sybase replication for future growth
Deploy, configure, and monitor numerous database instances
Assist and review designs and optimization strategies of the database systems
Administer and support a stable, reliable, and recoverable database platform
Design the next generation of database infrastructure to meet the growing needs
Work closely with key contributors to support new features and services
Plan for database capacity limits and anticipate future database infrastructure needs
Due to the complex infrastructure with Sybase ASE, replication, IQ, ASA, Netezza they also do a fair amount of 1st and 2nd level production work - upgrades, troubleshooting performance problems, replication issues, automating and supporting maintenance tasks, on-call shifts for nights and weekends…
Not solely a design/strategy group - significant time spent on production support.
