The System Vice President will be the Chief Pharmacy Officer for CommonSpirit Health for the system and divisions. Lead and advance the entire pharmacy enterprise, including operations, clinical services, and revenue, with responsibility over both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. Provide strategic direction for the pharmacy enterprise to optimize patient outcomes through outstanding medication management. Develop programs and services that optimize CommonSpirit Health system and division pharmacy resources.
The role will be responsible for developing, optimizing and monitoring pharmacy key progress indicators (KPIs) for the system and divisions, including financial and quality metrics. Accountable for pharmacy service level agreements for each division. Standardize best medication management practices across the system, including clinical, operational, and revenue services. Lead and advance inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, including clinical pharmacy services, medication contracting and distribution, medication formulary, pharmacy research, medication-related technology, medication information systems, medications safety, 340B program, tele-pharmacy, pharmacy compliance, retail pharmacy services (e.g., specialty pharmacy, mail order), and pharmacy benefit manager.
Directly supervise Divisional Pharmacy Vice Presidents and System Pharmacy Directors across CommonSpirit Health.
The position is remote with travel.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, optimize and advance national (Level 3) interdisciplinary medications management services to ensure high-quality, safe and cost-effective medication utilization across the continuum of care for CommonSpirit Health.Build strong, collaborative relationships and partnerships with other key leaders, including CMOs, CNOs, finance, operations and supply chain leaders.Develop, implement, and advance the system wide strategy for the delivery of clinical pharmacy services across CommonSpirit Health, including the System P&T Committee, system medication formulary and pharmacy research. Establish, monitor and optimize the pharmacy budget and financial metrics, including revenue and expensesOptimize pharmacy operations, including the pharmacy 340b program, telepharmacy, pharmacy compliance, pharmacy technology and pharmacy data servicesOversee pharmacy contracting and procurement processes to ensure reliable and cost-effective medication delivery and optimize all pharmacy retail services, including specialty pharmacy, mail order pharmacy, retail pharmacy and pharmacy benefits manager. Collaborates with system and divisional pharmacy leaders to assure appropriate resource utilization.Provides executive leadership and collaborates with service line leaders to develop systems and tools to ensure compliance with pharmacy law, regulations, pharmacy business practices, accreditation practices and other CommonSpirit Health policies.Grow an established national and international pharmacy presence to represent CommonSpirit Health, advocate for the profession of pharmacy and advance medication management servicesQualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy requiredMBA, MHA, MPhA or residency in hospital pharmacy administration10 years of hospital pharmacy or health-system leadership required, with a documented record of success in the management of multidisciplinary and multi-site pharmacy servicesDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses and healthcare administrators. Demonstrated ability to utilize effective communication, presentation, financial management and analytical skillsDemonstrated ability to successfully lead and direct peer group and interdisciplinary project teams, utilizing influence and collaboration. PharmD preferredREQUIRED LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
