Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Systems Administrator specializing in Public Safety Technology to join our team. In this role, you will design, implement, and support critical systems that ensure the reliability and security of public safety operations. As a vital member of our organization, you will contribute to the stability and efficiency of technology systems essential to public safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in advanced IT systems and a commitment to maintaining high availability in mission-critical environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Design, implement, and manage Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, and Office365 environments.
+ Configure and support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to enhance system security.
+ Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline administrative tasks.
+ Manage and maintain servers, virtual machines, and virtualization technologies including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
+ Implement and oversee vSphere Replication and Veeam Backup solutions to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
+ Monitor and support network infrastructure, VPN configurations, and secure remote access technologies such as NetMotion.
+ Configure and maintain Cisco and Fortinet networking equipment to ensure optimal performance and security.
+ Ensure system availability through high-availability configurations and proactive maintenance.
+ Provide support for end-users and troubleshoot issues in a timely and efficient manner.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with public safety objectives.
+ Provide after-hours and on-call support as needed to ensure critical systems remain operational in emergency situations. Participate in rotating on-call schedules to address urgent public safety IT needs.
+ Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Ensure that all operational procedures are documented to facilitate knowledge transfer and continuity in case of team member turnover.
+ Regularly perform disaster recovery tests to ensure that systems can be restored quickly and effectively. Ensure backups are regularly validated and that failover systems are properly tested for reliability.
+ Monitor system performance and usage trends to anticipate future capacity needs. Optimize systems for both performance and resource efficiency to ensure that technology solutions are scalable to meet future public safety needs.
+ Monitor and enforce system security policies to comply with public safety regulations and standards. Regularly review and update security patches, system configurations, and compliance audits to meet legal, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements.
+ Work with external vendors and service providers to evaluate, select, and manage third-party solutions or integrations that align with public safety requirements.
Education, Experience, Licensing
+ Education and Experience : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer science, or closely related field and two years of experience in systems administration, software configuration, troubleshooting, and virtual environments with a focus on public safety or similar high-availability environments .
+ Experience with High Availability Systems: You should have proven experience in managing Microsoft technologies, virtualization platforms, and enterprise-level backup solutions to ensure the integrity and security of public safety systems that need to be highly reliable.
+ Licenses/Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional, or Cisco CCNA are preferred.
+ Driver’s License: A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
+ Background Checks: You must pass an NCIC background check and obtain a fingerprint-based security clearance from both the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's Office.
Supplemental Information
+ Communication Skills: You must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
+ Technical Knowledge:
+ Familiarity with the unique requirements of public safety technology systems is a plus.
+ Experience/Knowledge of public Safety Computer-Aided Dispatch systems is a plus.
The position's work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.
