Description
The System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of the organization's server infrastructure, with a strong focus on a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) environment and thin client devices. This role requires a strong understanding of server operating systems, networking concepts, and virtualization technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022).
+ Manage Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and user accounts.
+ Implement and maintain server security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
+ Monitor server performance and proactively address any issues.
+ Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
+ Troubleshoot server-related problems and provide timely resolutions.
+ RDP Environment Management: Design, implement, and maintain a stable and secure RDP environment.
+ Optimize RDP performance for optimal user experience.
+ Manage and troubleshoot RDP connections, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
+ Implement and maintain session recording and auditing capabilities.
+ Ensure the security and compliance of the RDP environment.
+ Thin Client Support: Install, configure, and troubleshoot thin client devices.
+ Manage thin client images and deployments.
+ Provide technical support to end-users on thin client hardware and software.
+ Investigate and resolve thin client connectivity and performance issues.
+ Maintain and update thin client firmware and drivers.
+ Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V (preferred).
+ Manage virtual machines, including creation, deployment, and maintenance.
+ Optimize virtual machine performance and resource utilization.
+ Networking: Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
+ Troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
+ Other Duties: Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
+ Assist with other IT projects as needed.
+ Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Requirements
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
+ Experience: 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator with a strong focus on Windows Server environments.
+ Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration.
+ Experience with RDP environments and thin client technologies.
+ Working knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware or Hyper-V).
+ Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
+ Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
+ Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
+ Other Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Excellent documentation skills.
+ Strong customer service orientation.
