System Administrator (Windows/Linux)

A client of Insight Global in located in the DC area is looking to hire on a Windows Systems Administrator due to expansion on the team. This person will be brought on a direct-hire full time employee and will work closely with others on the team such as the Director of IT, Sr. Systems Engineer, and Security Analyst. This team is looking for some who is an experienced Systems Administrator that enjoys being hands-on as a generalist versus being focused in one area. This Systems Admin should have experience with Windows Servers/OS, Cloud Technologies, Active Directory (Group policies, Security Policies, etc.), Network setup/troubleshooting, patching, servicing, and more. This team operates cross-functionally and team orientation/collaboration is huge not only for this team but as an entire company. This person needs to have a self-starter mentality who is wanting to bring ideas and innovative ways to bolster all things IT. This person will be working off a hybrid schedule and will be setup for success at the beginning, so they are caught to speed on the business.
Additional Key Areas of Responsibility include:
- Provision virtual machines onsite and in the cloud including operating systems, applications, and patches
- Install, maintain, and monitor all IT equipment (servers, storage, switches, firewalls, laptops, printers, etc.)
- Coordinate with department to oversee patch management for all systems
- Monitor and test system backup and recovery procedures
- Assist the Service Desk as needed in addition to being on call (5pm to 10pm one a week a month)
- Conduct technical research and promote solutions to improve efficiency for IT operations, users and clients. Areas include compute, storage, database, machine learning, analytics, bot programming, security/workflow automation and cloud orchestration
- Work within the ITIL framework using best practices like incident management, change control, and asset management
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
- Monitor and investigate alerts from EDR systems (Carbon Black, Taegis) and other security tools
- Investigate and respond to phishing attempts and email security incidents
- Develop and implement company-wide security best practices and protocols
- Document security incidents, assess their impact, and recommend solutions
- Assist with documentation for security assessments and IT policies
- Lead security awareness training and help colleagues understand information security management
