System Development Manager (Software), Solid State Drives team
Description The AWS Hardware Engineering team is driving rapid innovation in the server and storage infrastructure used by Amazon Web Services. We are looking for an experienced Software Manager with an end-to-end knowledge of Solid State Drives (SSDs) starting from customer requirement stage to hardware/firmware development, validation, and deployment process. Candidate should have experience building scalable and sustainable automation tools to improve quality of products and customer experience. Candidate should have a strong people leadership and management experience, directly leading a team of experienced hardware and software engineers. Candidate should have Customer Obsession mindset in his/her approach to deliver high quality products to customers. He/She will work with customer facing teams to debug and root cause customer issues with shortest possible turn-around time and documenting/presenting debug findings in review forums. The ideal candidate will develop leaders in the team while staying close to the details, driving both immediate customer impacting issues and implementing processes and automation proactively to reduce future failures. You have experience building automation at scale with an emphasis on durability, availability, security, and diagnostics. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineer or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. - 10+ years of experience in software development of storage and/or infrastructure solutions across full product life cycles - 5+ years of experience building and managing high performance platform and/or infrastructure software engineering teams. - 3+ years of experience in Solid State Drives (SSD) storage field; knowledge of SATA/NVMe roadmaps and drive qualification and firmware promotion process. - Experience working with customers. - Self-motivated and self-driven. - Ability to build, grow a team of engineers and drive innovation. - Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. - Ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment. - Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. - Ability to analyze problem and direct team or even work independently as required. - Ability to co-ordinate with different geographic locations. Preferred Qualifications - Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineer or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. - Experience in Solid State Drives (SSD) storage field; knowledge of SATA/NVMe roadmaps. - Visionary people leader, experienced in building and managing high performance team(s); experience developing technical leaders. - If you are an experienced Hardware Manager in this field with exposure to the qualifications mentioned above, this role will also be a good fit for you. - Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role. - Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $149,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $258,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
