MAIN FUNCTION:
The System Director of Maternal Child is a registered professional nurse leader responsible for the overall vision and strategic management of Labor and Delivery, Obstetrics, Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatrics across Centralus Health. Responsible for the care provided in this space by external partners and their adherence to contractual obligations and our care standards.
As a leader, tasked to make decisions using systems and complex adaptive thinking to innovate, remove barriers to allow for new programs and processes, and question conventional approaches. Skilled in change management, and act as the catalyst. Apply analytics and assess when change is necessary, while also supporting staff in managing those organizational changes. Applies diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to decision making, and can control for bias in across their areas. Willing to take calculated risks, make timely decisions, and delegate appropriately. Ultimately responsible for the organization framework design for maternal child departments that is needed to advance innovation, as well as the allocation of resources needed by their teams to care for patients and advance the organization’s mission and vision. Direct reports are the Nurse Managers for Labor and Delivery, Obstetrics, Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatrics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
**1. Adapt and implement communication practices, Relationship Management practices, influencing behaviors, and effective communication to leaders and employees within respective areas
**2. Knowledge of the health care environment: Nursing practice & application, regulation, economics and policy, evidenced based practice (EBP), ACOG, AWHONN standards, patient safety and quality
**3. Use Systems & complex adaptive thinking to influence decision making, change management, diversity, belonging, & inclusion, transformation & innovation
**4. Align department standards with professional accountability, organizational accountability, health equity & social determinants of health, & governance.
**5. Define and share a strategy and vision for Maternal Child Services
Align resources toward achievement of Centralus results
Assist in maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations
Build credibility with physicians as a champion for patient care, quality and nursing profession
Creating an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of clinical associates
Represent nursing services at meetings as deemed necessary; participates with department leaders in designing and providing patient care and services
Develop and lead the design and implementation process of electronic documentation. Maintain integrity through continual audits and evaluation of the system
Monitor statistical data as part of quality improvement efforts and oversee preparation and completion of all program-related reports.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal written and communication skills
Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 5 years of acute care experience
Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing or applicable field such as healthcare administration, business, or public health. Certification as a Nurse Leader or Maternal Child Health
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 3 years of Manager/Director experience. RN license in Sate of New York
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires frequent standing and walking. Routine office job. Requires light, moderate, or considerable physical effort. May require frequent lifting of light weight material and infrequent lifting or moving of heavy weight material.
