FTI is looking for a System Engineer with an active Secret Clearance to work on-site in Dahlgren, VA. The qualified candidate will become part of FTI’s Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Weapons Control and Integration Department (H), Maritime Warfare Control Systems Division services program. The incumbent will serve as a Systems Engineer supporting various Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) projects. The position will be within the LCS Branch at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia. The candidate will provide system engineering support to review, update, and maintain the drawing packages of existing systems, as well as direct the review of drawings and configurations for the LCS program.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide technical support for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) meetings, working groups, peer reviews, technical interchange meetings, and periodic system status coordination meetings.

• Provide system engineering support for the review of open issues including preparing material for discussion, actively participating in reviews, generating review reports highlighting potential problems and resolutions, issue/comment resolution, and tracking resolutions through to final approval.

• Provide systems engineering support for the development of requirements for currently undefined emerging technology requirements and for the continuous evaluation and refinement of new and existing system-level requirements.

• Analyze and evaluate emergent problems, updates, and enhancements to determine the impact on the combat and weapon system interface changes to include new and emergent technologies and also participate in technology refresh planning.

• Provide the capability to utilize Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and tools that support MBSE in the performance of system engineering activities.

• Responsible for maintaining the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) software system interface documents; applying appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle, and managing task schedules and deadlines.

 

  Provide LCS system engineering services across multiple baselines, customers, and external systems.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience :

Knowledge of Littoral Combat Ship systems and design (LCS) is beneficial.Effective communication skills, both written and oralAbility to work independently and with others, across multiple organizations, to meet established goals within schedule-driven timelinesAbility to ride Naval vessels and climb a Jacob's LadderThree (3) years experience with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in System Engineering, or seven (7)years of hands-on Combat System Engineering experience.Experience with weapon and combat systems, and/or launcher systems.Experience reviewing and developing software system interface documents or interface control documents experience with requirement generation.Familiarity with Configuration Management processes.Effective communication skills, both written and oral.Ability to work independently and with others, across multiple organizations, to meet established goals within schedule-driven timelines.
