The company is currently seeking a College Co-op / Intern.

Responsibilities

Position Summary/ Primary Purpose

The System Integration Engineering Co-Op/Intern reports directly to the System Integration Engineering Manager. Our Co-op/ Internship program at Daifuku will combine your education with practical experience in core areas. We are currently looking for bright and talented college level students who are interested in bringing their passion to life and being part of our future as a global material handling systems world leader. Our co-op and internship opportunities are led by engineers and technical managers who help pave the way for learning all aspects of our trade including design, installation, and commissioning of Daifuku’s Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) for use in manufacturing, industrial, warehousing, airports, and entertainment applications, among others.

 

Ideal candidates will be strong critical thinkers with an analytical approach to problem solving and can engage in both technical and non-technical challenges.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility

Support system integration of AGVs, AMRs and peripheral equipment at customer locations.Investigate, gather, and analyze data for specifically assigned tasksInterfacing with customers.Collaboration with other teams on the project.Identify and raise any issues that may impact project quality, scope, timing, and cost.Recommend and implement process improvement.Compile necessary information to document the design solution required for adoption of a design.Contribute to the success of the team by taking on additional responsibilities and completing tasks as assigned.Create system layout drawings, renderings, and illustrations.Create system code.Provide analysis of system operational data to identify system performance improvement opportunities. Qualifications

Willing to work hands-on with tools and mechanical equipment Strong organizational skills and written communication skills Basic Analytical skills to extract critical data and translate to system concepts.Able to accommodate a variety of different and changing situations.Positive attitude toward work requirements, fellow employees, and customers.Team player with effective communication, technical and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.A wide degree of initiative, creativity, independence, and latitude is necessary and expected.Ability to travel to customer sites per the demands of the company.Flexibility and availability within work schedule for changing job deadlines.Availability to work 24-40 hours per week.Work well under pressure and tight deadlines.Works precisely and pays close attention to details.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment.English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

 

Education & Experience

Actively enrolled in and pursuing a B.S. or M.S. Engineering or equivalent.AGV/AMR, Mobile Robotics, Automation, Controls Engineering, PLC programming and System Integration experience, is preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.Proficient in AutoCAD, is preferred.Direct experience in System Integration and/or Automated Material Handling Systems.

 

Demonstrated Physical Abilities as Follows:

Visits to customer locations may require negotiating through an industrial facility, including, but not limited to, conveyor systems requiring climbing access ladders, negotiation screen guards, catwalks, and lifting and/or carrying objects up to 40 lbs.
