System Operator III
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a System Operator III for our Utica location. This is an operational position involving a variety of duties in support of transportation management center (TMC) operations. Specific responsibilities include: Your Impact + Serve as the on duty manager developing protocols, standard operating procedures, and ensuring compliance with accepted guidelines and practices + Oversee the operations floor Including: + Directing System Operators 1 and 2s, + Providing QA/QC for all operational steps and that staff actions conform with expectations + Training and management of approximately 5-10 employees including operators, safety service patrol dispatchers and inspectors, + Coordination of staff activities such as scheduling, administration, and performance management on all shifts 24/7/365 + Serve as an interface with New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and maintenance contractors for all operational outages and failures, and + Coordinate deployment of all portable variable message signs and developing message content. + Manage record keeping and policy and procedures + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + High School Diploma or equivalent + Five years of full-time employment meeting the qualifying experience + Qualifying Experience: Candidates must meet all of the following conditions:Operations dispatching with at least one (1) of the following groups/agencies:Transportation, Fire, Police, EMS, or similar experience in the military + Oral and written communication + Computer/Software – including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases + Supervising employees + Public, internal and external relations (works well with internal, external and partner groups and individuals) + Mentor and training new staff, and + Able to respond to problem situations 24/7/365 **Preferred Qualifications** + Associates Degree + Organization skills + Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with others in a team environmentWSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
