Job Description

GDIT has an exciting opportunity to participate in the SAG-U as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s (USAREUR-AF) mission.  We are seeking a System Administrator (Shift) to support 24/7/365 operations in Wiesbaden, Germany.

This position is part of a shift work schedule which includes coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining an enterprise Microsoft Windows environment, including sustaining Active Directory, Exchange, Windows Certificate Authority, DNS, and other applications. The Systems Administrator will also be tasked with the scheduling and conducting of weekly, monthly, or quarterly preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS).  The Administrator will provide status and reporting while working with Tier III engineers.  Qualified candidates must demonstrate an understanding of various technologies and applications consistent with a virtualized server environment (Windows and Linux).

HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Troubleshoots system hardware and software issues.

Coordinate PMCS activities, streamlining preventative strategies in conjunction with service providers.

Performs basic software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.

Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.

Administer a mixed environment of Windows and Linux servers and workstations, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP)

Provide routine technical support in the management of software, hardware, and application configurations.

Ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.

Understand the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to support the management of Security Controls in systems within our environment.

Enforce compliance with DoD STIGs across servers, services, and applications, ensuring robust security postures.

Requires shift work, weekend, and holiday coverage as required by mission demands.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Security Clearance Required: A DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Education: BA/BS or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military/government systems administration experience preferred.

Required Experience: 3+ years of experience.

Certification: DOD 8570 IAM Level II Certification

Skills: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced team setting. Occasionally required physical activity for equipment troubleshooting. Required Technical Skills: Successful candidates should also have a fundamental knowledge of networking. Must be able to obtain a German Technical Expertise Status Accreditation (TESA)

German TESA eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced industry certifications such as MCTS Server Administrator, MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent.

Robust understanding of networking principles and fundamentals.
