Systems Administrator Location: San Diego, California (NIWC PAC, Point Loma)
***US CITIZENSHIP & DoD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION*** Job Description: Step into the vital role of Systems Administrator, where your expertise will be the cornerstone of maintaining and enhancing the technological frameworks that empower the Rapid Response and Integration (R2I) initiatives for the United States Marine Corps. Positioned at the heart of NIWC PAC on Point Loma, you will orchestrate the smooth operation of our critical systems, ensuring they perform flawlessly to support the noble mission of the USMC. Your role is not just about maintaining systems but elevating them, ensuring they are robust, secure, and agile enough to meet the dynamic needs of military operations. Responsibilities: Oversee, optimize, and ensure the seamless functionality of server and network infrastructures that are crucial for the deployment and maintenance of R2I software applications. Act as a guardian of our IT systems by implementing and supervising advanced security protocols and measures, safeguarding sensitive military data against emerging threats. Lead strategic initiatives for the rollout of new technological assets, managing the intricate installation and configuration processes that integrate cutting-edge hardware and software into our existing infrastructure. Serve as a pivotal technical resource, offering expert guidance and support to both users and team members, enhancing our collective IT proficiency and problem-solving capabilities. Champion system efficiency and compliance with the highest security standards, driving continuous improvements and adhering to stringent Department of Navy and DOD security regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field. At least 5 years of in-depth experience in systems administration, with a proven track record in managing complex IT infrastructures. A robust understanding of network architecture and system security, with a keen eye for detecting and mitigating vulnerabilities. Exceptional problem-solving skills, capable of working effectively under pressure and addressing issues promptly and decisively. Outstanding organizational and communication skills, with a natural ability to convey technical concepts in an understandable manner and coordinate efforts among diverse teams.
