Salary range: $80,000-120,000

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software or related infrastructure.  This individual partners with management and Systems Engineers to deploy and support innovative technologies in alignment with business objectives.  Performs advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of infrastructure production issues.  Manages day-to-day support of assigned infrastructure solutions and implements configuration changes recommended by IT Systems Engineers.  Serve as escalation support for all IT Support Specialists. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

Provide administration of servers in a virtualized server environment using VMware and Hyper-V management tools  

Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, trending, performance analysis, and resolution of system issues.  

Work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously 

Daily customer interaction required to follow up on issues and track the progress of project(s) 

Help maintain our VMware environment including managing host and vcenter patching and upgrades.  

Help build virtual servers as needed based on requests or projects needed.  

Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems. 

Help install physical infrastructure hardware as needed including, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, and access points 

Perform problem analysis and resolve escalated technical problems reported by users and management. 

Configure and monitor infrastructure such as network, servers, access logs etc., and ensure availability to company systems. 

Evaluate and respond to system performance logs and alerts. 

Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches for repetitive system administration tasks. 

Manage company file shares and permissions as well as perform identification and cleanup of unused or files available to archive. 

Create, change, and delete user accounts per request and manage access to company systems. 

Create and administer Windows and Linux servers and ensure successful application of security updates and patches.    

Manage Office365 email infrastructure and SPAM filters.   

Some weekend/after-hours work required, as necessary 

Occasional On-Call rotation required for Client and infrastructure production issues 

Performs additional duties as assigned. 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

 

Education and Experience: 

Position requires an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 3 – 5 years of related experience.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, be able to multi-task, and have good verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to accurately follow direction of senior IT staff and to learn and adapt to rapidly changing technologies and environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

 

Five+ years of performing System Administration in a production environment 

Extensive experience troubleshooting hardware and software 

Proficiency shown working with Azure (AAD, Identity, Security, Compliance) and Microsoft 365 workloads, to include SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange Online - Intune MDM & Teams Voice/VOIP a plus 

Proficient knowledge of troubleshooting various enterprise applications 

Proficient knowledge of user access control, patching, and networking stacks 

Proficient knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange Server, and other local systems management (DHCP, DNS, NTFS) 

Working knowledge of email system maintenance/support, and experience migrating a wide-scope of source environments into Exchange Online 

Knowledge of backups and backup technologies including Veeam 

Knowledge of SQL/Database concepts.  

Proficiency working with email/content protection systems (anti-spam/DLP/EOP) a strong plus 

Proficient knowledge of setting up and maintaining VMware and virtualization 

Proficient knowledge of storage solutions and hardware such as iscsi, nfs, Nimble, Pure, etc.  

Proficient knowledge of setting up and maintaining computer hardware 

Knowledge of Okta and SSO 

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management both verbally and in writing 

Effective documentation skills and strong attention to detail 

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team 

Ability to explain complex issues to end users and Executives alike 

Proficient knowledge of assigned systems (e.g. Windows or Linux), including installation and troubleshooting 

Excellent customer service skills 

Effective ability to maintain vendor and partner relationships 

Prior experience with project management tools, such as Smartsheet, a plus 

Certification(s) related to environment (e.g. Microsoft, VCP, LCP) a strong plus 

Demonstrated experience with PowerShell/MS Graph scripting, for support and deployment automation a plus 

Experience working in a validated environment is a plus 

Proficient knowledge of monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, etc.
