POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Systems Administrator will provide in-depth technical support for server, network, and telecom infrastructure within the Timber Products’ Enterprise. This position provides timely and effective technical support to maintain internal customer data and infrastructure system stability company-wide.
THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO WORK FULL TIME IN THE MEDFORD ADMIN OFFICE.
MAJOR TASKS:
• With minimal assistance, administers, installs, supports, and maintains server, network and telecom infrastructure systems, and plans for and responds to service outages and other problems.
• With minimal assistance, supports and maintains both physical and virtual Microsoft servers and enterprise applications. Monitors and tests server software performance and provides statistics and reports.
• With little direction, schedules and applies OS updates, service packs and hotfixes as required. Supports hardware and software for all server-class systems within the Enterprise.
• Assists with configuration and maintenance of Storage Area Network (SAN).
• Responsible for ensuring servers are backed up regularly, offsite backups are maintained, and that server data is secure from unauthorized access. Responsible for verifying and testing validity of backups and scheduling disaster recovery exercises.
• Under limited supervision, administers Exchange Online. Without assistance, maintains public and private information stores and user e-mail accounts. Performs backups and restores for mail items. Researches and troubleshoots e-mail problems by reviewing mail logs, records, and network configurations. Maintains, troubleshoots, and updates Spam and Virus firewall to support mail systems.
• Serves as LAN Administrator and provides support for Data Sharing Group Access Requests. Creates and maintains secure file server shares and allocating resources by user and/or group permissions. Distributes and maintains storage space allotments.
• Administers users and groups within Microsoft Active Directory. Administers mailboxes within a Microsoft Exchange Online environment.
• With limited guidance, supports, troubleshoots and maintains network switches, routers and wireless access points for the Enterprise. Performs maintenance of LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructure equipment in a Cisco environment.
• Monitors and maintains network and server monitoring applications to proactively support business operations. Supports log aggregation system and routinely reviews network, firewall and server logs for anomalies.
• Assists with troubleshooting and configuring of VoIP phone systems.
• With assistance, administers Microsoft server applications and technologies including (but not limited to), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Network print queues, Microsoft SQL Server, Group Policy Objects, Login Scripts, and Hyper-V.
• Responsible for security and maintenance of regional network closets and provides a clean and professional working environment. Maintains and supports all network and server UPS systems.
• Responsible for facilitating install and repairs of phone and data drops from workstation to network closets. Terminates and installs copper cabling as required.
• Requisitions, receives and deploys new and replacement software/hardware as necessary to support customer needs.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 years of experience supporting infrastructure systems and with increasing responsibilities.
• B.S. Degree in Computer Science/MIS or related field preferred.
• CCNA, MCA, MCM, and/or MCITP preferred.
• Practical experience with LAN/WAN/WLAN network administration.
• Basic understanding of business practices, including accounting, sales and production cycles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management.
• Ability to research and diagnose system problems, which may include the evaluation of programming logic, databases, system output and other application issues.
• Strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving abilities. Must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks.
