The Systems Administrator II at Fort Johnson will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting the IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems and services that support the organization's IT environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of systems administration, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n\n
System Administration:\n\nManage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.\nMonitor and tune system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement appropriate solutions.\nPerform regular system updates, patch management, and backups to ensure data integrity and availability.\n\n\n\n
Network and Security:\n\nImplement and manage security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access.\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems comply with DOD 8140 requirements.\nMonitor network performance and connectivity, addressing any issues promptly.\n\n\n\n
User Support:\n\nProvide technical support to end-users, resolving system and network issues in a timely manner.\nAssist in the deployment and configuration of new hardware and software.\nCreate and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.\n\n\n\n
Project Involvement:\n\nParticipate in IT projects, contributing to the planning, implementation, and testing phases.\nAssist in the evaluation of new technologies and tools to enhance system performance and security.\n\n\n\n
Compliance and Reporting:\n\nEnsure all systems and procedures comply with DOD 8140 requirements.\nPrepare and submit regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and compliance status.\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\nExperience:\n\n3-5 years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on managing Windows and Linux environments.\nExperience in working within a DOD or government environment is preferred.\n\n\nCertifications:\n\nMust be DOD 8140 compliant (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).\nRelevant system administration certifications (e.g., MCSA, RHCSA) are highly desirable.\n\n\nSkills:\n\nStrong understanding of system and network security best practices.\nProficient in system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.\nExcellent communication and documentation skills.\n\n\n\nAdditional Requirements:\n\nMust possess a Secret Clearance or higher\n\n
