Job Summary

The Systems Administrator II is responsible for providing systems administration of complex and specialized systems including planning, configuration, advanced troubleshooting, analysis and maintenance. In addition, the Systems Administrator II leads projects and participates in complex projects. The Systems Administrator II collaborates closely with technical and IT leadership personnel as well as mentoring to assist in development of other technical employees and the ability to provide training to all levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree in related field with four (4) or more years of experience with: Technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing file/print, enterprise device management and directory services Experience providing systems administration tasks and functions Experience contributing to projects with multiple people and working on multiple projects simultaneously

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of common server systems including Linux and Windows High-level ability to troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues Ability to pick up new skills and understand new environments quickly Ability to provide training Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet goals and deadlines Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with colleagues and users in a diverse environment Ability to work both independently and as a team member


Shift

Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $70,000 - $80,000

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
