Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join their team!

 

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting mission-critical applications and services for a major Directorate. You will be responsible for the orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of complex systems essential to national security operations. In this position, you will work closely with network engineers to optimize multi-user computer systems, ensuring efficient operations, managing performance, and maintaining system security.

 

Ensure the seamless operation of multi-user computer systems, collaborating with network engineers to optimize system performance and reliabilityManage Linux distributions (CentOS, RHEL, Oracle), including installations, configurations, upgrades, and troubleshootingHandle cloud environment management using AWS services (EC2, S3, Elasticache) for provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring serversPerform system security tasks, including STIG hardening, patch management, and applying security updatesConduct disaster recovery procedures, perform snapshots, and manage backup solutions to maintain system resilienceOptimize system performance by monitoring and tuning CPU usage, disk I/O, and response timesTroubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 issues, providing effective communication to users and stakeholdersUtilize scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automating administrative tasks and managing system operationsUse configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to maintain consistent system configurationsDevelop and maintain critical documentation, including System Installation Plans (SIPs), System Architecture Guides (SAGs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and user guidesEvaluate and recommend hardware and software products based on system needs and make informed purchase decisionsManage and deploy applications using tools such as ElasticSearch, Kafka, Docker, Openshift, Keycloak, and WildflyAdminister PKI certificates and manage SSL/TLS for securing communications and servicesSupport and maintain various environment types, including physical, virtual, and cloud environmentsParticipate in Agile or Scrum methodologies within development and operations teamsSupport security audits and testing events to ensure compliance with security standards and regulationsContinuously monitor system resources, including CPU and disk usage, to maintain optimal system performanceProvision, configure, and maintain critical services and applications to ensure availability and performance

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experienceExpertise in Linux System Administration, including CentOS, RHEL, and OracleHands-on experience with AWS services for managing cloud environmentsProficiency in system security administration, including STIG hardening and patch managementKnowledge of disaster recovery procedures and backup solutionsSkills in system performance tuning and troubleshootingProficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automationExperience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)Ability to develop and maintain critical technical documentationSkills in evaluating hardware and software products and making informed decisionsExperience with ElasticSearch, Kafka, Docker, Openshift, Keycloak, and WildflyUnderstanding of PKI and SSL/TLS managementExperience managing multiple environment types (physical, virtual, and cloud)Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologiesExperience supporting security audits and compliance testingSkills in performance monitoring and management for system efficiencyAbility to provision, configure, and maintain critical services and applications

Education/Certification Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required for this positionA Security+ OR other active IAT II/III certification is required

Clearance Requirements

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an active TS/SCI clearance with a CI poly that has been obtained in the past six years is required.
