Summary:
Martin Marietta is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Administrator that will manage enterprise backup software and Linux administration. The candidate will support the implementation, monitoring, and maintaining of our enterprise backup and Linux environments, as well as ensure disaster recovery preparedness.
Responsibilities:
o Configure and manage enterprise backup software to safeguard critical data
o Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure successful data recovery systems
o Work with teams to ensure data retention policies and compliance requirements are met
o Provide proof of backup integrity for routine audit checks
o Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and servers
o Monitor system performance and ensure reliability, availability, and proactive notification
o Manage user accounts, permissions, and system security
o Apply software patches, updates, and system upgrades
o Proactively monitor system logs and performance metrics to identify issues
o Respond to and resolve technical issues related to Linux systems and backups
o Assist in maintaining documentation for systems and processes
o Work closely with senior administrators and other IT team members
o Participate in team meetings and contribute to projects
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in a Systems (Backup) Administrator roleGood foundational knowledge of Linux operating systems, ability to work at the command line in Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise LinuxFamiliarity with enterprise backup software (e.g., NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault)Basic understanding of networking concepts, shell scripting, and system monitoring toolsProblem-solving mindset with high attention to detailGood communication and organizational skills
Preferences:
Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, bash shell scripting)Understanding of storage solutions and file systemsCertification(s) such as CompTIA Linux+, LPIC-1, or RHCSA
