Systems/Controls Engineer III

Objectives/Purpose of Job:


The Senior Controls / Automation Engineer will lead multiple automation and improvement projects and support the daily operation of process automation systems across the manufacturing site.

 

Project work may include controls systems design and implementation, systems integration, small-to-large scale automation equipment builds, and equipment / systems improvements to existing manufacturing equipment.  

 

This is an on-site Global Pharma & Med Device Engineering position based in Tampa, FL.

 

Key Activities/Responsibilities:
•    Lead and drive automation and process engineering projects including scope, resource planning, budget activities and project execution timeline.  Provide inputs for Capital plans. Communicate status of project activities and milestones to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
•    Develop and manage project charters, schedules and detailed work plans in order to meet stated goals.  
•    Working with cross-functional teams, develop User and Functional Requirements for manufacturing equipment and integration.  Lead internal and external design reviews.
•    Identify innovative technical and process solutions that drive desired performance in cost, quality, compliance, customer service and revenue.
•    Engage cross-disciplined resources to support implementation of improvements aligned with site priorities.  
•    Gather and analyze critical data necessary to drive Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and reliability improvements. 
•    Support development of validation strategies, write and execute validation protocols, and complete associated validation reports.  Support process and equipment IQ/OQ/PQ/PV validations.
•    Provide technical and process support to operations as a Controls / Automation Subject Matter Expert to Diagnose complex manufacturing technical issues and resolve downtime situations in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications/Training:
 

Education:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or other relevant Engineering degree with Controls and Automation experience.
 
Experience:
•    Minimum of 7 years related experience with development, integration and project leadership of automated control systems including PLCs, motion control, robotics, HMIs and SCADA control systems software, preferably in a regulated environment.

 

Desired Skills:
•    Pharma and/or Medical Device manufacturing engineering experience.  Aseptic and/or solutions manufacturing engineering with emphasis on automated equipment design.
•    Working knowledge of 21CFR Part 11 Compliance, Data Integrity and relevant industrial codes.
•    Familiarity with Machine Vision systems applications, industrial networks and switch configurations.
•    Familiarity with MES systems and relational Database designs for the purpose of systems integration.
•    A self-starter able to achieve project goals with minimal supervision.
•    Capable of working independently or on project teams as required.
•    Excellent project management, cross functional leadership, and organizational skills.
•    Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, verbal and written communications, negotiation and teamwork skills.
•    Lean / Six Sigma experience; certification is a plus.
