A wave of innovation is bringing sweeping changes to EC2 services with new virtualization capabilities, deep platform integrations, and unimaginable scale revolutionizing traditional thinking around how we run enterprise workloads in the cloud. We are looking for a Systems Development Engineer to build new capabilities to help customers run VMware-based workloads on AWS. The AWS Commercial Applications team within Amazon EC2 defines and builds integrations with external software applications running in cloud environments and helps to modernize enterprise customer workloads.
Our team just announced Amazon EVS and is expanding and continuing to build new capabilities for our customers migrating and running VMware-based workloads on AWS.
Key job responsibilities
As a SysDE in the VMware team, you'll work alongside outstanding builders, principle engineers, and business leaders to create new capabilities that provide enhanced experience for our customers running VMware workloads. All team members actively participate in product definition, technical architecture reviews, iterative development, code review, and operations. Along with this, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with customers to understand and ensure their needs are met. Clear, professional, verbal and written communication with teammates and customers is an important part of the job.
Our SysDE’s are expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of VMware deployments, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), ESXi, vSAN, and NSX. Strong proficiency in automating software deployments and operations using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell is essential. You will be leading performance testing and/or bench marking of AWS infrastructure for VMware workloads and driving continuous improvements. You will be Design and implement software-defined networking solutions, such as virtual switches and overlay networks, to enable flexible and programmable network infrastructure.
You will be inventing the foundation for the next phase of the products and beyond. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating a reliable, scalable, and high-performance service requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. You should enjoy working on complex systems, be customer-centric, and have a proven track record of building exceptionally high quality software that delights customers.

As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
