Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
We are looking for a motivated and autonomous builder to deliver results to our customers. This is a hands-on position where your daily activities will range from strategic planning to new system development to supporting the customers that depend on our services. Deliver consistent, well-defined results in an agile systems development workflow. To succeed in this role, you will deliver reliable, scalable, controlled working environments built on AWS.
In this role, you will build tools and services with infrastructure-as-code, enable self-healing, site reliability, and scaling. Use AWS products and DevOps patterns to build the next generation of remote systems management tools.
Key job responsibilities
- Utilize knowledge of development and service delivery best practices to lead design and development efforts for a team with a security, scalability, and performance mindset
- Instill a culture that drives DevOps, hold a high quality bar with code reviews, drive automation efforts to empower, and remove barriers for our team
- Translation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
- Hands-on leadership; working with others on the engineering team to guide the day-to-day development activities, leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design reviews, and implementation
- Build services that can scale with rapid deployment for additional controlled environments with containers and pipelines
- Deliver quality features on-time and on-budget and execution against project plans and delivery commitments

As Systems Development Engineer on the team, you will be counted on to define and apply the standards for engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices for your team.
