This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney.  To help shore up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement.  We may look to open these opportunities more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.  

Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer for their Lubrication and Thermal Management Systems discipline.

What You Will Do:

Contribute to root cause investigations and troubleshooting for in-service and development engine programs by processing full flight "big data" and executing lubrication and thermal management system models.

Specify engine validation test plans, interpret test data, and calibrate models based on results.

Develop system models for new engine programs.

Specification of performance requirements for system components and requirements for control logic.

Summarize system status to requirements during presentations at design reviews.

Travel up to 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or in a related field and 5 years of relevant engineering experience; or an Advanced degree in a related field and 3 years of relevant engineering experience.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Detailed understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.

Experience in system-level analysis tools desirable (e.g., Dymola, MATLAB, Simulink).

Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other coding languages.

Department/Segment Overview: Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in-service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging, and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models.

Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings gears, and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
