Axient is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to support our customer in El Segundo, CA.
The Innovation and Prototyping Project System Engineer provides direct support to the Space Systems Command, Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power, Innovation and Prototyping Delta.
The Innovation and Prototyping Delta is responsible for advanced development of space capability demonstrations, technologies, and prototypes; providing next-generation rapid, innovative & affordable technology that leverages international, commercial, & interagency partnerships.
This position requires a DoD Top Secret Clearance to start.
What you will do...Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems engineering and acquisition planning for advanced development of space capability demonstrations, technologies, and prototypes.Evaluate research, development and operational requirements against satellite command and control capabilities, and identify potential support deficiencies, assess on-going or planned architectural and acquisition activities within the satellite program, and identify potential impacts to existing and future acquisition strategiesProvide support with the engineering design, development, and integration of the satellite and ground system interface.Evaluate new and legacy technologies to determine their effectiveness in meeting developmental, interface, performance and functional infrastructure requirements desired by the government. Technologies considered may span from industry, academia, civil, military, domestic and international providers.Provide detailed system evolution recommendations, near and far future architectural improvements, to be addressed to guide the transition of space and ground capabilities.Evaluate execution plans, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and specifications for design definition to support requirements.Develop use cases and initial test plans for getting operational acceptance Support review of End-Item-Data-Packages in support of acquisition closeout of requirements as well as identifying plans that would support the operational acceptance documentation. Skills you will need...Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum 10+ years Aerospace engineering of DoD space and/or ground systems. Acquisition experience in program support of a satellite service bus and/or ground-based satellite command and control system for use with operational and Research and Development (R&D) satellitesTop Secret clearance and SCI Eligible.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field. Work experience may be substituted for a degree.Experience Highly Desired
Experience developing initial test plans for smaller projects getting operational acceptance desired.Familiarity with Space System Command (Formerly Space and Missile Systems Center) process and procedures desiredExcellent and detail-oriented organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills desiredAdvanced-level competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook desiredExcellent and detail-oriented organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills.
