Job Description

 

Summary

The Sr. Systems Engineer works within the engineering team on all aspects of SEIT (System Engineering, Integration and Test) to develop and deliver innovative Uncrewed Systems for defense and commercial applications.  These development efforts will generally be small-focused design teams, which will require candidate to use a range of skills and tools across traditional engineering, computer science, and mathematical disciplines.  The nature of the development efforts require the candidate to work within the entire product lifecycle, including requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, detailed design, validation and verification testing.

Position Responsibilities

Develop and manage system requirements and specificationsPerform system design and architecture developmentConduct trade studies and analysis to support decision-makingEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system integrationPlan and execute system integration activitiesDevelop integration plans, procedures, and schedulesCoordinate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integrationIdentify and resolve integration issues and conflictsMaintain configuration management and documentation of integrated systemsDevelop test plans, procedures, and casesConduct system verification and validation testingAnalyze test results and document findingsEnsure test environments and tools are properly configured and maintainedCoordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with testing standardsCommunicate project status and issues to stakeholdersWork on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangiblesDetermine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience8 - 12 years of experience in a systems engineering role (Aerospace systems engineering preferred)Has managed requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycleAllocated requirements to subsystem & engineering coordinationExperience in R&D environments including physical integration of hardwareTroubleshooting and Root Cause AnalysisLab and Field Test ExperienceDeveloped instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisitionProvided input for model development and simulation analysisStrong Matlab skills and is proficient with office software and computer-based productivity toolsFamiliarity with electronics and systems related to image collection and analysisHas developed systems test plans, procedures, and reports and reviewed and interpreted specificationsWriting Systems Safety protocols and ensuring personnel safety during field testing

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

Advanced degree is preferredTaking a product from concept to production with contract manufacturers is a plusExposure to Guidance Navigation and Control Systems along with Modeling Simulation & Control and Model-Based Systems Engineering is helpful but not requiredKnowledge of Simulink, Ansys and Solidworks preferredPossesses an interest in creating Architectures using Model Based Engineering toolsAble to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of dutiesDisplays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectivesTakes ownership and responsibility for current and past work productsIs committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the companyHas effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.Consistently demonstrates teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one's own interests

Physical Demands

The salary range for this role is:

$118,107 - $167,475
