Overview

The Systems Engineer provides system administration and configuration, computer operations and management, integrations, support and troubleshooting activities for applications and user support while implementing infrastructure and services for Highgate’s large hosted and cloud multi-tenant environments. The position requires in depth knowledge of virtualization, windows group policy, storage area networks and be able to perform and provide input and controls for Disaster/Recovery needs. This position expects and requires to be on-call rotation and provide support as required during off-hours.

 

Responsibilities Support, administer, and implement hosted infrastructure components and associated software and services including but not limited to, file and print servers, Application servers, Database servers, Storage Area Network, Virtualization platforms, Remote user access for VPN & Property Access, Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, and wireless hardware and circuitsSupport, administer, and configure cloud infrastructure components and associated software and services including Microsoft Azure with a focus on infrastructure as a service, and Microsoft Office 365 with a focus on Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, mobile device management, and M365 security and complianceBe hands on with daily operations and perform system maintenance activities for all on-premise and cloud infrastructure componentsImplement directory service security and group policy to support various infrastructure componentsPerform system back-up and recovery activities, including daily monitoring of backup jobs, and regularly scheduled testing of restore processesBuild and maintain documentation for all technical aspects of infrastructure including developing run books and standard operating proceduresAssess architecture and technical specifications to meet functional needs and IT standardsCollaborate with 3rd party vendors to support and deliver infrastructure and technical solutions in hosted and cloud environmentsAs required, work directly with users and executives to provide escalation supportStrong knowledge of networking and firewall concepts. Hands on experience with Fortinet equipment is beneficialExperience with technology or feature testing in a lab and other environmentsPerform other duties as requiredWorking knowledge of SFTP services is essential

 

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience10 years of progressive experience with LAN/WAN technologies.Experience with 3rd party vendor interaction in hosted environments and familiarity with outsourced tier 1 support modelsTechnical problem-solving skills necessary to troubleshoot and resolve system infrastructure issuesExcellent customer service skills to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsOutstanding communication skills including the ability to speak diplomatically and function as a team playerPlanning and organization skills necessary to prioritize and coordinate own workload within a multiple project settingAbility to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and evolving environmentDemonstrate a strategic/global mindset by determining opportunities and threats through analysis of current and future trendsAbility to have fun and enjoy the work in a fast-paced atmosphereWorking knowledge of advanced support services for Microsoft related technologies including Windows Server, Clustering, SQL, and SharePoint.Expert knowledge of Active Directory user and computer policy configuration optionsWorking Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud Services Working Knowledge of Office 365Working knowledge of MS Operating Systems and RDS/Terminal ServicesExpert knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware.Working knowledge of Enterprise Class Storage systems, HPE Nimble/Alletra is preferred Working knowledge of infrastructure technologies: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security, Fortinet experience is preferredWorking Knowledge of IP designs, in a multi-tenant and multi-data center environment with fail-over & high available capabilities.Working knowledge of Disaster Prevention, Recovery and Business Continuity concepts and proceduresWorking knowledge of change management concepts, practices and procedures
