We want you to be an integral part of an innovative, creative, and energetic group of team members. Steampunk is looking for a Systems Engineer to support one of our federal customers. The Systems Engineer will support a dynamic team that provides engineering services across a variety of platforms and technology. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is interested in learning the latest technology and has a proven ability to learn quickly and apply training to solve real world engineering problems.

Contributions

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Active Directory management, including Domain Controllers, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS, and access control with a focus on securitySingle-sign-on (SSO) that operates within the DHS standards and SSO infrastructure, such as Active Directory Federation Services and OktaSecurity Information and Event Management tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, and Change AuditorMicrosoft Azure, Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), and O365 management, including Microsoft TeamsVirtualization software such as Nutanix or VMware, and Storage Area Network (SAN) solutionsUnderstanding of Change Request and Change Control Board processesEnhancements, implementation, and maintenance of client platforms (i.e. desktop, laptop, VDI), that include software images and hardware configurations and image updatesProvide level of effort estimates to project managers as requested to develop and meet project schedules; Provide technical advice and develop solutions as requiredBuild servers per customer standard build guidelines and SOPs; Harden and work with Cyber Security to remediate findings per network security scansImplement security and standardization in the form of DoD STIGs and other security guidelinesFamiliarity with PowerShell scripting for management and automation of Windows system tasksDevelop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), “As Is” documentation, Installation Instructions and any other required O&M and help desk documentation as requiredWork with Infrastructure and Engineering team members to meet requirements and deadlines Qualifications

Qualifications

U.S. CitizenMinimum of Five (5) years of experience managing IT systems at the senior level and/or;Associate's Degree, with a preference of Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in an IT-related field.Minimum of 1 Technical Certification: MCSA or MCSE, Azure or M365, VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) or Nutanix certified%-DCV or Higher), , Red Hat, etc.); Preference of also holding CompTIA Security+ or similar security certificationStrong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team. Ability to research and resolve problems efficiently and accurately, and establish any associated solution artifacts.Strong system and network troubleshooting abilitiesFamiliar with Windows Server operating systems, specifically Windows Server 2019 and 2022.Familiar with storage technologies and concepts, to include iSCSI, SAN, and NAS.Familiar with enterprise backup solutions and policies.Familiar with scripting in a Windows environmentPerforms detail-oriented task in an independent environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience providing project briefs to senior executivesAbility to maintain workload in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities About steampunk

 

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $145,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
