Systems EngineerKBR is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Systems Engineer. This position supports tasking at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Program Executive Office, Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO(U&W)), located in Patuxent River, MD. The selected candidate will support the core avionics, software, and modification and retrofits teams by performing analyses and executing projects involving engineering, testing, training, production, and sustainment issues. Tasks will include requirements analysis and traceability, problem/deficiency reporting, Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) tracking, researching technical solutions, conducting analyses of alternatives, and recommending courses of action. You will also interface with a variety of technical and program personnel to ensure the successful execution of program objectives.
Responsibilities:
Develop and apply systems engineering products and analyses to support requirement development, acquisition, deployment, and sustainment of unmanned aviation systems and associated autonomous functions/systemsExecute software configuration management and software problem tracking, providing oversight for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) development, test, and release processesLead and manage multifunctional teams, ensuring the successful integration of complex systemsPlan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staffDevelop, coordinate, track, and manage the execution of Air Vehicle and Ground Control Station (GCS) Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)Conduct technology trade studies to research, analyze, and evaluate various options, documenting results to determine the best value solution for specific problemsPerform engineering investigations of considerable complexity to resolve technical issuesReview literature, patents, and current practices to inform solutions for assigned projectsOversee the completion and implementation of system enhancements, recommending technical corrections and improvements to managementBasic Qualifications:
Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering; Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering preferred. Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively complex systems design, acquisition, and test experience, including complex (hardware/software) aviation systems integration. Knowledge of U.S. Government, DoD, and/or USN correspondence development practices, along with the ability to write formal engineering reports and construct briefing materials using MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Certifications: Certification in Systems Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with DoD aviation development, production, sustainment, and/or testingDemonstrated experience at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)Previous experience with military avionics systemsPrevious experience with unmanned aviation systems, particularly the MQ-9AExperience with military aviation systems, either manned or unmannedScheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week
Compensation: $123,000-$185,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. #LI-ML2
