JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning and execution.
* Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
* Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
* Coordinate and lead System Safety Working Group (SSWG) meetings with both internal and external counterparts.
* Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation.
* Assist in requirements development and verification.
* Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for adverse impacts to system safety.
* Support customer and test/operational range requirements.
* Participates in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
* Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design.
* Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be a US Citizen
* Interim Secret clearance required to start work on program.
* Bachelor"s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline
* Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882
* Developing and evaluating system safety requirements
* Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines
* Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to make formal presentations to large groups
* Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards
* Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering
* Familiarity with missile and launcher systems
* Model-based engineering knowledge
* Experience with DOORS requirements application
* Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction
* Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
* Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools
