Job Description
The Systems Engineer acts as a vital link between engineering and project management. They lead all technical activities across Engineering, Procurement, and Installation teams. Serving as the main technical contact for the project team, this role reports directly to the Project Manager.
ResponsibilitiesOversee costs, delivery schedules, quality, and targets for the assigned System (generator and auxiliaries, turbine and auxiliaries, penstock, gates, electrical power systems).Participate in creating the overall time schedule and work breakdown structure.Create Purchase Order Requisitions and assist in supplier negotiations.Manage the entire process from conceptualizing the design to delivery of components to the site.Validate and approve supplier production schedules.Handle technical clarifications with customers and suppliers.Organize design review meetings and manufacturing kick-offs.Assess and compile required documentation, veto technical dispositions in case of deviations.Prepare and submit technical deliverables.Facilitate meetings regarding technical activities.Ensure stakeholders correctly interpret technical specifications and expectations, contract-based concepts.Define the technical strategy and supply plan in collaboration with the Project Manager and Procurement Department.Participate in selecting, negotiating, and discussing technical matters with main suppliers and sub-contractors.Ensure engineering deliverables and supply deliveries meet established quality criteria and timelines for the System.Address Non-Conformances and Change Management with customers, vendors, and engineering teams.Work with the Project Manager to analyze, define, and implement contingency plans to address any project issues or deviations.Essential SkillsProficiency in CAD design (3D / 2D).Minimum 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial design.Experience with turbines and/or generators.Electrical engineering skills.Budget analysis and planning.Schedule management.Project management.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of experience in hydroelectricity and related design and manufacturing activities.Work Environment
This role can now be remote, with expected travel once a month or every other month to Spokane and potentially North Carolina. The option to sit in Spokane and go into the office is also available.
