PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $110,900.00-$135,600.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $86,100.00 - $160,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Systems Engineer at BECU, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure and systems that power BECU’s enterprise-class applications. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, learning from their expertise while contributing to the creation of continuous integration builds and deployment pipelines that ensure smooth, automated delivery of software and infrastructure. Through automation, testing, and system maintenance, you’ll help ensure the stability, scalability, and security of BECU’s systems while continuously improving their efficiency and performance. Your contributions will help streamline system delivery and enhance the overall quality of technical solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Maintain and Improve CI/CD Pipelines: Consistently evaluate and enhance continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring higher quality and efficiency in system delivery.Develop and Implement Tests: Maintain and implement unit and integration tests within CI/CD pipelines, improving the quality and reliability of system deployments.Analyze and Enhance System Telemetry: Analyze telemetry for gaps and enhance coverage to reduce system outages and improve time to resolution. Implement telemetry for pipeline metrics to ensure system reliability.Contribute to Architecture and Documentation: Assist in maintaining architecture and dataflow diagrams, contributing your insights into system frameworks, protocols, and external dependencies.Prototype and Innovate: Work closely with senior engineers to develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and solutions, combining technical expertise with an understanding of software design concepts.Collaborate and Document Best Practices: Collaborate with team members to implement best practices for software and systems delivery, documenting these processes to ensure consistency and quality.Automation and System Maintenance: Write automation scripts, improve system delivery, and gather system metrics to ensure smooth operation and maintenance, with an emphasis on automation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent work experience.Minimum of two years of experience designing, delivering, and maintaining systems in a production environment.Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery patterns, including Infrastructure-as-Code, and using tools such as Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, etc.Understanding of database technologies, including platforms, authentication, and connectivity, with the ability to write basic SQL queries.Experience implementing security in multi-tiered applications, with knowledge of database and web application security.Experience in performing code reviews, pull requests, and following source control standards such as Git Flow or Trunk-Based Development.Experience designing and implementing infrastructure systems, including Azure PaaS, Azure IaaS, Windows or Linux servers, SAN, Exchange, IIS, Active Directory, Azure AD, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience writing reusable, testable functions and methods that follow object-oriented development patterns.Experience sharing technical work in front of technically adept audiences, presenting solutions and technical concepts.Familiarity with Test Driven Development (TDD) concepts, methods, and tools, with experience in unit testing.Experience using debugging tools to diagnose cross-service issues, with proficiency in systematic debugging/troubleshooting.
