Our work depends on a Systems Engineer to support or EPA customer in improving environmental quality and public health outcomes vast amounts of data. They must also support EPA in making its data available to the states, tribes, territories, the regulated community, environmental advocacy groups and the public. High level capabilities include building and supporting data analysis activities within a data platform for user with high-end analytical needs, support data flows / data pipelines, Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL/ELT) and orchestration, data lake / data warehousing, geospatial analysis and services, big data query and analysis, and support for stakeholder activities using popular languages, tools, packages, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning frameworks within on Prem or Cloud environments.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

Contributes to completion of major engineering programs and projectsDevelops solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems Perform highly complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the endOversees highly complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management toolsPerforms highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysisPerforms continual maintenance and provides highly complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problemsPrepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projectsMaintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and works with management to evolve current processesMay coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionalsMay serve as a team or task lead

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of related experience

Required Technical Skills:

Build and support data analysis activities within a data platform for user with high-end analytical needs, support data flows / data pipelines, Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL/ELT) and orchestration, data lake / data warehousing, geospatial analysis and services, big data query and analysis, and support for stakeholder activities using popular languages, tools, packages, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning frameworks within on Prem or Cloud environmentsWorks independently under limited supervision

Applicable Certifications: Security + Certification, Network + Certification, MCSE Certification, Life Cycle Management, Lab operations, CybersecurityEffective communication skillsAnalytical skills

Location:

DC metro area preferred but remote applicants considered.  Team members living in the DC metro need to travel to client sites at the discretion of the government lead.  The Government site is in Washington, D.C.
