JOB DESCRIPTION:
Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer is an experienced engineer who identifies and defines technical requirements for electronic or mechanic brake system components. This highly visible role also evaluates different concepts with respect to technological and commercial features and the impact within the project.
Essential Functions

Gathering both internal and external customer requirements for the design of rail braking systems and components. Preparing technical proposals including clause-by-clause comments to customer specifications. Preparing systems documentation including system and subsystem level requirements specifications, schematics, manuals etc. Defining and performing commissioning tests for rail vehicle braking systems. Perform functional and software verification testing. Assisting senior engineers and field service engineering staff. Developing interface communication documents. Performing system-level Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA). Developing Verification and Validation Test Procedures. Making technical presentations to internal stakeholders and customers in support of sales. Creating project schedules and budgets; lead new product development projects.
Skills and Competencies
Has a solid understanding of rail braking operation and design. Understands requirements analysis, allocation, and traceability. Understands engineering analysis-fluid dynamics, fundamental electrical, elemental software. Understands imperial and metric units of measure. Understands configuration management. Has the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics. Understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies. Understands and adheres to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations. Understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions. Understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.Technical Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Either has or will develop a working knowledge of NYAB Engineering systems and procedures. Understands FMECA analysis. Understands scheduling, budgeting, planning, and project management.Interpersonal Competencies:

Analytical Thinking - Refers to collecting, analyzing and structuring information using a wide perspective in order to identify key issues and patterns as well as to drawing conclusions. Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in an Engineering-related field of study.
2-5 Years of Relevant Engineering experience most desired.
Base Pay Range
The base pay range for this role is $80,560 USD – $120,840 USD. The company reasonably expects to pay within that range, however, New York Air Brake considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
