Job Description
The systems engineering focus is support to unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms and unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate must be able to develop requirements, create system design documentation, utilize, and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements. This role involves cradle-to-grave experience, requiring involvement in all phases of the project from definition, design, and testing.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop requirements, create system design documentation, and maintain existing analytical models.Plan and conduct tests to validate requirements.Analyze customer/stakeholder requirements, decompose requirements, derive requirements, and allocate them to system and subsystem elements.Develop system architecture for new and existing systems.Conduct trade studies and perform design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.Develop test plans, test cases, and reports based on requirements documentation.Lead and conduct testing as applicable.Develop system/subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.Work in adherence to structured and defined development processes.Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements.Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.5-7 years of industry experience.Experience developing system requirements and architecture in conjunction with the engineering team.Technical leadership capabilities, sharp analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills.Self-directed, results-oriented, with a sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry.Experience in aircraft systems; experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with software and hardware integration, subsystem testing, and operational test execution.Proficiency in tools such as DOORS, Atlassian, and requirements management software.Familiarity with system schematics, PDR, CDR, and ICD development.Knowledge of UAV systems, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and Cameo.Work Environment
Travel is required 25% of the time, potentially up to 2 weeks at a time, to locations such as California, Sacramento, Austin, North Dakota, and Alabama.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00
