Systems Engineer
**Job Description** BAE Systems Integrated Defense Solutions (IDS) business area is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and integration of advanced defense systems. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering processes, familiarity with defense industry standards, and a passion for supporting national security initiatives. This position will support internal research and development projects and current projects to drive performance excellence in our programs. IDS is a business area within the Intelligence & Security (I&S) sector of BAE Systems Inc. The candidate will report directly to the IDS Lead Systems Engineer and will be a member of the core team driving technical innovation within the business. The role can be based at one of our BAE regional offices and may require travel to the I&S headquarter offices in McLean, VA as well as other sites and customer locations. Specific responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to: + Perform diverse technical work that requires in-depth knowledge and diversified application of systems engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques + Ensure execution of systems engineering processes across the lifecycle, and report on project status and progress measured against specific plans + Support the government with the transformation of paper-based documents to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products + Research emerging trends, techniques, methods, and current best practices in the evolution of digital engineering, and be willing to be on the forefront and cutting edge of the field + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the systems engineering disciplines and ensure cost effectiveness when developing designs + Prepare review packages, present data to both internal and external customers, and provide feedback to improve processes and work to meet engineering objectives + Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and within budget **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Bachelors degree in Systems/Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline + Minimum of six years of experience as a systems engineer + Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies including requirements management, system modeling, and verification techniques + Familiarity with defense industry standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD, ISO, NIST) + Proficiency in systems engineering standards and frameworks (e.g., INCOSE, ISO/IEC 15288) + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and find effective solutions + Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders + Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams + Project and process management skills including proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Post-graduate degree + Certification in Systems Engineering (e.g., CSEP, ESEP) + Knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologies + Knowledge and experience working in DoD technical services industry **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
