We are in search of a Systems Engineer to coordinate requirements, integration, and installation of simulation-based operator and team training systems for the US Navy as part of the PC-based Open-architecture Reconfigurable Training System (PORTS) program based in Middletown, R.I.
Qualified applicants should have strong engineering experience with software systems integration. Qualified candidates will perform tasking to include:
System requirements elicitation and review.System physical setup, installation planning, and delivery support. Generate procedures to support system setup and deployment. Define/update domain configurations, BIOS configurations, and NAS configurationsPerform manual configurations such as: VM creation, PXE boot, RAID Configuration, registry edits, GPO edits, DNS configuration, DHCP edits, and Cisco IOS switch configuration changesSupport software installations, web interface/server updates (basic), system deployment, and backups/restoresProvide inputs and edits to automated/scripted tasksDevelop process documentationBring a working knowledge of industry standards and trends in order to participate in continuous process improvementBasic Qualifications:
BS degree in an engineering or related science discipline and a minimum of 3 years of specialized experience. An additional 4 years of specialized experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirementKnowledge of computer hardware for evaluating system components, lab/site installations, and executing prototype testingUnderstanding of RAID and integration of NAS devices into a systemCAD or other professional diagram drawing tool experience for basic wiring diagrams, wireframe equipment models, and room sketchesKnowledge of general principles of networking and Microsoft domain system administration to assist with creation and maintenance small air-gapped LAN systemsUS citizenship; Must be able to obtain a Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:
Scripting experience with additional consideration given to PowershellExperience with writing Engineering documentation such as Requirements and Design Specifications, Test Plans, Test Procedures, and User’s GuidesKnowledge of Navy command and control, sensor, and weapon systemsKnowledge and experience with Virtual MachinesExperience working with Software Configuration Management (SCM) toolsExperience with modeling and simulation softwareExpertise with Navy simulators and training pipeline Experience working with system backup and restore Active Secret ClearanceExperience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)Experience with Cisco IOS switch configurationExperience with Linux OS, particularly Red Hat Enterprise LinuxSalary Range: $85,400.00 - $128,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
