Job Description SummarySystems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. On this technical team, the systems engineer works to ensure that product programs achieve all design objectives required to meet customer and business needs, that includes: feature and functionality, quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, regulatory, compliance, and cost.

Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesPerform troubleshooting for field and manufacturing issues, investigate to determine root causes, assessment of risk, and appropriate CAPA actions.Implement design changes that sustain existing products that are in the marketCreate DHF (Design History File) deliverables per New Product Introduction & Installed Base plans as required by the Quality Management System under guidance for design team.Assist in generating performance and functional system requirements and related trace matricesUse legacy data and basic domain knowledge to perform system design analysis, FMEAs and basic architecture designsConduct experiments and diagnostic tests as required to draw conclusionsIdentify gaps in quality targets and retire technical risks under guidance from design teamActive team member in design control process, especially in subsystem decomposition, requirements development, design planning, and design transferAnalyze designs for compliance to international and quality standardsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Computer), or similar technical discipline, or an Associate’s degree with four (4) years of technical experience.Awareness of the functionality of complex systems including mechanical (pneumatic and structural), electrical, and software designs and their integrated interactionsCompetent in problem solving, technical writing, and communication skillsCapable of working both in a team-oriented environment and as individual contributor  

Desired CharacteristicsTwo (2) years’ experience in project leadership or systems engineering within a manufacturing, development, or research environment.Demonstrated experience driving CTQ flow-down to subsystems.Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issuesDemonstrated exposure to HW/SW/Systems design and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc)Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical tradeoffs and decision making.Demonstrated exposure to risk-based approach design and tool-based alternative decision selectionsDemonstrated exposure to use of Root Cause tools or other investigational aids
