Systems Engineer
JOB PURPOSE-

The Systems Engineer is responsible for planning, implementation, performance monitoring, tuning, and maintenance of Skechers’ Linux, Windows, and virtual infrastructure globally. Serves as subject matter expert in the area of systems administration/engineering with a focus on automation. The engineer participates in operational support, IT initiatives, and major projects that further the transformation of technology value to the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES-

Experience and proven ability to perform administration on Windows and Linux servers.Maintenance/troubleshooting/architecture of UNIX (Linux) systems inclusive of connectivity to Skechers Active Directory infrastructure in a heterogeneous environmentAdministrative ability with VMWare vSphere/VxRail virtualizationAdministrative ability with Active DirectoryAdministrative ability with Storage Technologies like NetApp and Pure.Participate in automation methodologies that will define the future state of the Skechers IT InfrastructureParticipate in infrastructure patching cycles. Orchestrate automation of Linux patching with RedHat Satellite server and Windows SCCMManage/maintain Skechers Linux, Windows & Infoblox DNS, DHCP, and IPAM infrastructure worldwide, including in remote facilitiesDocument all work thoroughly and completely in trouble tickets, maintenance notifications, outage resolutions, service/network diagrams, runbooks, etc.Hardware/Software troubleshooting of server infrastructureCoordinate work with other engineers, DBAs, admins, etc. to accomplish tasks and mutual goalsAdministrative capability with standard backup technologies

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES-

Maintenance of cloud-based disaster recovery footprint based on VMWare technologyMentoring/knowledge transfer with Engineering and Service Desk staff to facilitate cross training and mutual skill developmentProvide troubleshooting/problem resolution assistance to Engineering and Service Desk staff on issues requiring escalationAssist other business units in evaluating proposed software or hardware solutionsParticipate in on-call for scheduled and emergency after-hours support/maintenanceParticipate in the change approval board process (CAB) for maintenance declaration and schedulingDeployment of infrastructure in remote offices, either onsite or remotely as circumstances requireCreate architecture diagrams as infrastructure documentationOther duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES-

None, but successful candidate should be able to take lead on designated team projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

Must be able to lift, and rack servers weighing ~50 lbs.Ability to multi-task and self-prioritize important tasksEmploys excellent verbal and written communication skills in engaging with coworkers, and other business unitsWorking understanding of IT automation technology and languages such as Ansible and PowerShellGood fundamental network skills, including a working understanding of TCP/IP for ongoing collaboration with our network team to achieve engineering objectivesExperience with automation code repositories, code management and reviewAssist with development, implementation, and ensure compliance with security standards in Linux and Windows environments, including Anti-virus, security patches, GPO administration, malware detection/response, etc.Participate in implementing Information Security policiesAbility to participate in a rotating on call scheduleSelf-motivated, and able to manage time efficiently with minimal supervisionStrong troubleshooting/critical thinking skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

• Systems management experience of Windows and Unix/Linux systems, including maintaining inventory, maintenance schedules, monitoring backups, OS upgrades, patches, firmware, drivers, etc.

• Systems management concepts, procedures, best practices, and application suites

• SAN Infrastructure

• VMware, or other virtualization platforms

• 5 or more years’ experience with Systems Engineering/Administration

• Ability to create administrative scripts with complete documentation.

• Extensive background with subsystems such as SSH, SFTP, Apache/PHP, DNS, Kerberos, DHCP, RPC, etc.

• Day to day infrastructure maintenance, including health checks, diagnosis, root cause analysis, and remediation of critical, and non-critical events

• Assist in development of Disaster Recovery/Data Availability policies, procedures and practices

• Monitor systems infrastructure, and respond to service interruptions, performance degradations, or other adverse events
