Systems Engineer
Job Title: Systems Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining advanced submarine systems in support of the United States Navy and the Royal Australian Navy fleets. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in Systems Engineering with experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). The role requires a clear understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and processes. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field and have at least 2 years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience is preferred. Responsibilities + Develop and maintain the world’s most advanced Submarine Tactical Control System. + Work as a member of an agile cross-functional team to support the United States Navy and the Royal Australian Navy fleets. + Execute Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities to identify program requirements and support system design analysis using Systems Modeling Language (SysML). + Draft system requirements in accordance with good requirement practices. + Conduct research on technical implementation and challenges, and utilize information gathered to develop solutions and designs for complex assignments. + Train regular systems engineers to use MagicDraw and other MBSE tools. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. + 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. + Experience with MagicDraw, SysML, or Cameo. + Department of Defense Secret security clearance obtainable within a reasonable period of time from hire. + U.S. citizenship required due to the nature of the work. + Clear understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and the engineering process. + Ability to clearly convey concepts and ideas using written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to prioritize competing requirements and tasks while working independently and as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Agile programs, Agile methodologies, and working on a sprint team. + Experience drafting system requirements in accordance with good requirement practice. + Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment, and professionally executes projects with assistance from lead and deputy systems engineers. + Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle more complex assignments as experience progresses. Work Environment This position is onsite in Fairfax initially, with a planned move to Manassas in March/April. The role requires onsite presence to begin with the potential for more hybrid flexibility later. The work schedule is a 9/80, offering flexibility in work hours Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.
