Job Description
The Systems Engineer will work with PDA customers to collaborate on the development of requirements for PDA systems. This role requires technical expertise in system development, analysis, and design of robust, complex electro-mechanical systems. You will make recommendations to optimize and improve systems and develop prototypes that can integrate with other systems, including modeling and simulation efforts. The products are primarily large cabinets containing servers, data, consoles, racking, network/communication equipment (switches), and cabling (Copper, Fiber, and USB) for video transmission and distribution, as well as video and GUI displays.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with customers to develop requirements for PDA systems.Make recommendations to optimize and improve systems.Develop prototypes that integrate with other systems, including modeling and simulation efforts.Work with technical engineering teams to develop design and prototypes.Assist in testing and analysis, and system improvements.Develop and perform systems engineering evaluations, trade studies, and recommend implementations.Transform customer requirements into specifications.Coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to hardware and software systems.Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of hardware and software development.Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new hardware and operating systems for new and existing system designs.Maintain system design standards.Provide technical guidance, training, and support to engineering staff as designated by the project lead.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems/Software Engineering (BSEE, Systems, or BSME).2-10 years of experience with hardware sets, circuit boards, cabling, connectors, enclosures, and electro-mechanical devices (servers, racking equipment).Experience with ruggedized equipment, displays, consoles, and GUI's (racking cabinets).Knowledge of video distribution and transmission, submarine displays, and signal processing.Understanding of the overall architecture of equipment and systems.Experience in developing requirements/solutions through customer collaboration and creative thinking.Experience with military or navy systems is a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with companies in defense/aerospace, medical equipment (diagnostics/surgery rooms), and capital equipment (machines).Excellent technical communication skills both internally and externally.Organizational skills.Flexibility and versatility to work in a small systems group within a small/medium-sized company.Hands-on and a team player capable of wearing multiple hats.Work Environment
The work environment includes an engineering and lab setting for requirement validation. You will be involved in the design, development, and testing of high-tech information/communication systems. The company culture values flexibility and family-oriented work ethics.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $46.00/hr.
