**Koniag Professional Services** , a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Systems Engineer to support **KPS** and our government customer in the DC Metro area. **This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.** _This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity._

The Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network systems and infrastructures. This position involves supervising, coordinating, and performing additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices, ensuring optimal performance and seamless operations.
The Systems Engineer at Koniag Government Services plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of complex network systems and infrastructures. With extensive experience in network technologies, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management, the ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices, as well as providing technical support, consultation, and training to IT staff. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are essential for success in this role.
**Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:**
**The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following tasks:**
+ Supervise, coordinate, and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
+ Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems, including evaluating system utilization, monitoring response time, and providing primary support for detecting and correcting operational problems.
+ Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level, working with communication protocols.
+ Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation of new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
+ Maintain network infrastructure standards, including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
+ Provide technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
+ Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems within the network infrastructure.
+ Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to network systems and infrastructure.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, developers, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment between network infrastructure and business requirements.
+ Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, operational procedures, and technical specifications.

**Requirements**
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
+ Ability to obtain a Public Trust
**Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
+ Minimum of eight (8) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
+ Level III (DC03) experience, with expertise in supervising, coordinating, and performing additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices.
+ Strong technical background and proficiency in network technologies, protocols, and architectures.
+ Knowledge of network security principles, best practices, and industry standards.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical consultation and training to IT staff.
+ Familiarity with project management methodologies and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
+ Experience with network monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques.
+ Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements related to network systems and infrastructure.
**Desired Skills and Competencies:**
+ Experience with office equipment (e.g. copiers, postage meters, audio/visual)
+ Knowledge of database management, reporting and data entry procedures
+ Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
**Office Location and Travel:**
+ The place of performance will be Primary place of performance shall be performed at ACF Headquarters, located in Washington, D.C., Rockville, MD.
