Systems Engineer
Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Description

The Systems Engineer will collaborate with customers to develop requirements. The role involves technical expertise in system development, analysis, and design of robust and complex electro-mechanical systems. You will make recommendations for optimizing and improving systems and develop prototypes that can integrate with other systems, including modeling and simulation efforts. Products include large cabinets with servers/data, consoles, racking, network/communication equipment (switches), and cabling (Copper, Fiber, and USB) for video transmission and distribution, along with video and GUI displays.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and perform Systems Engineering evaluations, trade studies, and recommend implementations.Transform customer requirements into specifications.Coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to hardware, software, and attached systems, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new hardware and software.Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on hardware and software development, including evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time, and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new hardware and operating systems for new and existing system designs.Maintain system design standards.Provide technical guidance, training, and support to Engineering staff as designated by the project lead.Work with technical team engineering to develop design and prototypes.Assist in testing and analysis and system improvements.Develop requirements and solutions through customer collaboration and creative thinking.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems/Software Engineering (BSEE, Systems, or BSME).2-10 years of experience with hardware set circuit boards, cabling, connectors, enclosures, electro-mechanical devices, and servers (Racking Equipment).Knowledge of ruggedized equipment, displays, consoles, and GUIs (Racking Cabinets).Experience with video distribution and transmission, including submarine displays and signal processing.Understanding of overall architecture of equipment and systems.Excellent technical communication skills both internally and externally.Ability to work in a small systems group and small/medium-sized company, being hands-on and a team player.Additional Skills & QualificationsAny experience with Military or Navy projects is a plus.Experience in defense/aerospace companies or medical equipment (Diagnostics/Surgery Rooms) companies.Experience with capital equipment (Machines) companies is advantageous.Work Environment

The role involves working in an engineering and lab environment focused on requirement validation and system improvements. The initial design phase is 2-3 months with final review into production taking 9-12 months, with refresh and upgrades every 2 years. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $56.00/hr.
