The Systems Engineer - Docking System will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas. \n

RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nMaintain existing and help create new requirement trace tools to manage compliance, flow down, and equivalency of program requirements to various provide and\/or project requirements.\nResearch program and project requirements to find docking related requirement flow down and equivalency.\nAnalyze partner and provider requirements to assess conflicts, gaps, and adequate flow down and decomposition of the NASA program requirements.\nPreparation of variances, exceptions and\/or waivers to NASA requirements.\nAssist in the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans, products, and closures.\nPrepare materials for system life cycle milestones, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Hardware Acceptance Reviews, and Flight Readiness Reviews.\nTrack vendor submitted data, such as verification closure notices, and status of NASA's review.\nCompile interface requirement content for docking systems installed on vehicles as well as between docking vehicles and manage their implementation.\nParticipate and\/or lead working groups to resolve technical issues, requirement disconnects, facilitate changes, etc.\nWork in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues.\nMaintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.\nOther duties as assigned. \n\n

\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.\nRequires a bachelor's degree in engineering.\nMust have 2+ years of recent and related experience.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills, including:\n\nPreparation of written review packages.\nSummary reports status and\/or metrics.\nCreate requirement, interface definition, and\/or verification content.\n\n\nAbility to work in a cross-discipline team to collect input for and obtain approval of requirement and verification content.\nSome experience with NASA, or similar program, requirement and verification management.\nSelf-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues.\n\n

DESIRED:\n\nBS degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school.\nKnowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment or a desire to transition to a systems engineering role, especially with complex or multi-discipline systems.\nExperience with, or working knowledge of, aerospace docking systems and docking operations\nFamiliarity with Orion, Commercial Crew, Shuttle, Gateway, and\/or International Space Station design development, certification, and delivery life cycle processes.\nFamiliarity with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes\nExperience with requirements development, flow down, and management.\nExperience with verification and validation definition, execution, and closure.\nWorking knowledge of requirements management software and systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cradle or Jama.\n\n

WORK LOCATION: \n\nThis position is located onsite.\nThis position offers a 9\/80 schedule, every other Friday off. \nThis position may require some travel. \n\n

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:\n

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:\n\nMust have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.\nAll of Bastion's employees must be team players. \nAble to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.\nAble to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.\nMust have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.\nMust be organized with good time management skills.\nGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.\nWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). \nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).\nRegular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.\n\n
