Systems Engineer Expert (Quantum)

Responsibilities Arcfield is looking for a highly skilled Systems Engineer that understands quantum algorithms, supports the development of high-quality quantum software solutions, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive quantum system development. We are looking for candidates who are creative, self-driven, curious, people-oriented and comfortable defining a path through ambiguity towards high-level goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong quantum research knowledge, and the ability to bring AI/ML to bear. Duties Develop well-documented, actionable, measurable, testable, traceable, requirements to identify needs or opportunities, and defined to a level of detail sufficient for system design. Support development and allocation of system requirements to system components and maintain traceability between user and component-level system requirements. Develop SOWs and associated requirements documents. Identify and maintain awareness of quantum technology to support intelligence analysis, obtain and maintain access to such data, and develop/perform queries against those sources. Provide initial analysis of quantum systems and algorithms components using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, develop analytic judgements such as relevance or vulnerabilities, and prepare briefings/reports documenting the methodology used and the results obtained. Develop new diagrams, flowcharts and models that illustrate the design of quantum systems and are consistent with architectural guidance and industry best practices and analyze the cost, schedule, and performance implications of these design concepts. Assist with the assessment of development system design and implementation deliverables. Discover and forecast quantum software and hardware technologies and products advancing mission capabilities. Scout and perform market analysis assessing the potential of new products, support technology transfer and adoption. Provide independent assessment of projects regarding technical risk including risk definition, assessment, prioritizing, and mitigation. Review technical challenges, propose recommended courses of action and document. Provide technical expertise providing detailed understanding of current systems and potential system improvements; may involve modeling, prototyping. Apply techniques and methods for technology development and efforts at all stages of the life cycle management process. Conduct investigative activities to improve existing products or procedures. Provide highly specialized knowledge and expertise to support requirements or issues related to threats and vulnerability, policy and regulations, intelligence, and optimizing organizational processes and needs. Qualifications Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph. BS 10-12, MS 8-10, PhD 5-7 Experience in algorithm design, data structures, and machine learning can be a significant advantage. Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully meet project specifications. 6 years of direct experience in designing, creating, developing and/or researching quantum systems and algorithms. Experience with quantum computing platforms like IBM’s Qiskit, Google’s Cirq, or Microsoft’s Quantum Development Kit. Knowledge of hardware and software engineering concepts to develop and improve quantum systems. Knowledge of hardware and software engineering concepts to develop and improve quantum systems. Solid understanding of quantum mechanics and quantum computing principles to design and analyze quantum systems. Direct experience with quantum programming languages like Python, C++, Q#, or Qiskit, etc. Experience with quantum software design and simulation tools. Familiarity with classical computing architecture and principles. Experience evaluating and prioritizing all incoming analytical requests. Communicate effectively with team members, managers, sponsors and business partners throughout the project lifecycle (project updates, scope changes, challenges, date changes).
