**Job Summary and Qualifications**
JOB SUMMARY
Provide technical responsibilities that cover a broad range of disciplines and/or a particular technical discipline that is of significance to HCA, particularly relating to storage solution design, engineering, delivery and administration. Perform various technical project assignments with some supervision. Identify, investigate, evaluate, automate and become proficient in new technologies and technical disciplines that are significant to HCA Healthcare.
Candidate must have analytical and design ability, high degree of creativity; general knowledge of the business implications of technical approaches, directions and solutions, ability to achieve results, project planning and coordination skills, superior communication skills, success in subordinate positions.
A Systems Engineer II – Storage will be responsible for providing technical review, engineering, administration, analysis, trending, and reporting of all supported configurations. Primary duties will include administration of hardware and software in a multi-platform environment, technical documentation, project management, engineering, issue resolution, and technical presentations. Specific responsibilities include administration and maintenance of various storage platforms, such as NetApp, Dell/EMC and Pure, operating system installation and customization where applicable, troubleshooting, coordinating, assist and advising in recovery from component failures of the supported system.
While the Systems Engineer II – Storage will require cross-platform knowledge and expertise, the candidate should have exposure to the others; Dell EMC Data Domain, VMAX, Unity, Isilon, NetApp, Pure, Cybernetics, various enterprise protection technologies (i.e.- Commvault, Zerto, Dell EMC Networker, Dell EMC Data Protection Advisor, Dell EMC SRDF) and storage management tool administration (i.e. Unisphere, OnCommand).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (The essential responsibilities and accountabilities of this position including interactions with other departments and outside vendors, if applicable, in PRIORITY order.)
Requires knowledge of supported storage systems and storage operating systems, utilities, vendor products, applicable programming languages, diagnostic techniques, benchmarking methodologies, applicable communications protocols, applicable hardware configurations, use of statistical and analytical tools for system monitoring and evaluation. Also requires knowledge of technology, network, data and applications architectures. Ability to communicate with various levels and types of project team members is also required.
Maintain frequent interaction with internal and vendor technical staff and project managers to ensure the effective delivery of solutions in accordance with project timelines and associated budgets.
Provide technical input and skills for the installation and certification of supporting software and hardware in a lab environment in order to ensure a sound deployment basis for production implementations.
The following are highlighted competencies and core expectations for the job/role:
• Technical understanding of storage technologies, such as DellEMC, NetApp and/or Pure is required; experience with all three vendors is highly desirable.
• Must have 1+ years’ experience (classroom setting and or professional) in deploying technical infrastructure computing solutions across platforms and components.
• Platform knowledge in one or more key areas including Windows Server (2012+), and Redhat 6.0+.
• Experience with virtual technology, such as VMWare ESX is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of project delivery results.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
• Experience with creating automation scripting, not limited to but can include PowerShell, Ansible, RestAPI
• Solid understanding and experience with operating system concepts and practical implementation of those fundamentals in a large-scale production environment.
• Working knowledge of key ITIL processes is desirable.
• Previous application development coding, debugging, testing and delivery into a production environment are highly desirable.
• A solid understanding of compute performance metrics and tools is highly desirable, including an understanding of CPU utilization levels, CPU and disk queuing, I/O response times, and other key performance indicators and their impact on performance.
• Experience with network fundamentals and performance principles, including a firm understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree is preferred
EXPERIENCE
Must have 3-5 years of relevant work experience required
