The Mission Systems Operations Contract (MSOC) has an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead the SVMF Systems Engineering & LOE (SE & LOE) team within the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF) Services Section.
The SVMF SE & LOE team consists of engineers specializing in the Planning and Design, Implementation, Integration, and Installation and Deployment of Space Vehicle and System Mockups into the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF). The applicant will lead the SVMF SE & LOE team within a dynamic team environment and will be responsible for working with the NASA customers, External vendors, Astronaut Crew Instructor teams, Mockup Managers, users, and commercial and international partners to capture and negotiate requirements and operations concepts and then drive those change requests through the Systems Engineering lifecycle.

The applicant will ensure that the team is working closely with MSOC Platform/OS, Software, and Security Engineers, System Testers, and Project Managers to facilitate changes across the SVMF hardware and software systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are required for stakeholder interactions. Strong initiative, organization, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are also required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform Lead duties, including the following:Assign and coordinate the daily tasks of Systems Engineers who develop requirements and designs to fulfill change requests (CRs).Develop and maintain schedules for work components within the Agility planning tool.Ensure consistency of work products among the SVMF SEs.Resolve or elevate issues identified by the team.Foster continuous improvement within MSOC by supporting Continuous Improvement events and Corrective Action Plans.Ensure that system/subsystem requirements, interface control documents, and other engineering documents are properly maintained by the SE team and delivered on schedule.Provide input to the Section Manager on staffing decisions and staff resource allocation within the SVMF SE team.Mentor junior engineers.Perform SE duties (as required), including the following:Develop CR requirements and designs by working with the customer, users, Mockup Managers, and engineers to effectively analyze user requirements, user stories, and operations concepts.Perform high level requirement assessments and facilitate the detailed assessments performed by the MSOC technical organizations.Create and/or update documentation for design and change instruments.Perform analysis, assessments, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.Lead systems architecture design and integration efforts.Provide Systems Engineering support to the MSOC implementing organizations.Communicate inward to the MSOC organization and outward to customer contacts.
Perform Mockup Manager Duties, including the following:Overseeing maintenance/usage of the hardware, systems, and mockups/trainers in the SVMF.Review and oversee integration of Flight Vehicle Change Requests affecting the SVMF mockups.Provide oversight of:fabrication of the mockups and their components, andmodifications to the mockups.Provide authorization for training, engineering, and Public Affairs Office (PAO) activities within the mockups.Manage supporting documentation for the mockups.Submit/Track problems and discrepancies related to the mockups.Provide overall status of the mockups to the SVMF NASA and FOD Program Management personnel.
This position requires successful completion of a government background check to access government facilities and systems.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Requires BS in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or other engineering-based technical degree and appropriate certifications plus at least 3 to 5 years of related experience.
DESIRED SKILLS:Understanding of human spaceflight requirements.Knowledge of the NASA JSC MCC, Mission Training Center, and SVMF subsystems.Knowledge of IT systems (hardware, software, networks), applications and the people who use them.Understanding of IT Security policies.Understanding of network and system architectures and means of detecting IT security issues during system development and integration.Familiarity with system Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) concepts and implementations.Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and agile development practices, including Agility.Experience with requirements management tools, particularly DOORS.Experience with ServiceNow or a similar ITIL workflow toolset.Experience with use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.KBR Benefits
